Long-Term Disability Insurance

Long-Term Disability provides benefits to an employee who has become disabled due to an injury or illness that is not work-related and will not be able to work for an extended period of time.


In short, Long-Term Disability benefits will pick up once an employee's Short-Term Disability benefits have expired. Long-Term Disability benefits will begin after the employee is unable to work for a period of at least six months, and will continue to pay benefits until the employee is able to return to work, or up until they reach the age of 65, whichever occurs first. The ill or injured employee will continue to receive a percentage of their gross income during the period of time that they are unable to return to work.
